Prominent Niger Delta leader, Chief Tunde Smooth has advised that the prevailing peace in Warri and environs must be sustained to attract economic growth, investors and companies to the area to create employments.
Tunde, the Bolowei of Obotebe Kingdom, in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, gave the advise on Friday in an interview with our Correspondent in Warri, Delta State.
He said the last ethnic crisis in Warri and subsequent relocation of major International Oil Companies from Warri, had caused untold hardship on the people and slowed down economic activities and pace of development in the oil rich city.
Tunde, renowned peace negotiator, also noted that it has become imperative for the Ijaws, Urhobo and Itsekiri residents in Warri, to live in peace and harmony, adding that only peace and co-existence will bring the desired economic growth, human capital and infrastructural developments to the area.
The Ijaw leader said there is relative peace in Warri which should be sustained by all stakeholders and ethnic groups to bring back the IOCs and companies that had relocated from Warri.
