A farmer was kidnapped in Ukpor, Anambra State’s Nnewi South Local Government Area, by suspected gunmen.
Although the motive for the kidnapping of the victim, Chukwujekwu Uzozie, remained unknown at the time of reporting this news, it was learned that he was a special adviser to a former local government chairman.
According to a source, the attackers shot Uzozie’s only son.
The attackers invaded the farmer’s home in Umudiji Umuohama village on Saturday, shooting into the air multiple times before invading his apartment, according to PUNCH.
It was also discovered that he had been brought to an unknown location and that his family had not yet been contacted.
Members of St. Andrew’s Church, Umuoham, where the victim worshipped, organized special prayers for his release and the rapid recovery of his only child, according to the source.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, confirmed the event and said the abductors were being sought.
