During an appearance on Journalist Hangout, aired by TVC News, Dr. Nicolas Felix, the youngest All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant in the 2023 elections, slammed former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. He accused Amaechi of lacking political stability and being driven by a desperate ambition for power, especially in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

Dr. Felix was reacting to the formation of a new opposition coalition reportedly being led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He cast doubt on the credibility of the coalition’s members, with particular criticism aimed at Amaechi. According to Felix, Amaechi has a history of changing political allegiance whenever it suits his interests, raising concerns about his political motives and reliability.

He predicted that if Amaechi fails to clinch the presidential ticket of the ADC, he would likely jump ship again, possibly to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the Labour Party. Felix used this as an example of what he sees as Amaechi’s lack of ideological consistency, arguing that such behavior undermines the seriousness of the emerging coalition.

While recalling the 2023 APC primaries, Felix criticized Amaechi for not accepting the transparent process that led to the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer. Instead of showing party loyalty, Felix claimed that Amaechi has chosen to align with different political movements in a bid to remain relevant, despite having served in top government positions for years.

“If they defeat him, I’m sure he’s not going to leave ADC; he’ll either go to PDP or join the Labour Party. This is someone who was a minister for eight years, a two-term governor, and a key player in the APC. Yet, because he couldn’t secure the presidential ticket, he’s now jumping from one camp to another. We are not talking about nation builders here; we’re talking about politicians chasing positions. That’s not what Nigeria needs,” he remarked.

He warned Nigerians to be wary of political alliances that are based on personal grievances rather than national interest. In his view, such coalitions lack the consistency and integrity needed for true leadership. Felix emphasized that Nigeria needs leaders committed to service and stability, not individuals switching parties in pursuit of political gain.

Felix also reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s reform agenda, stating that the ruling party would approach the 2027 elections based on measurable achievements. He dismissed the opposition’s efforts as lacking vision, asserting that Nigerians will judge parties based on performance, not on theatrics or recycled politicians.
