An armed robbery suspect has reportedly died after an exchange of gun fire between his gang and men of the Anti-Crime Patrol team of the Nigeria Police Force, Kwale Division, Delta State, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
The deceased suspect, who sustained serious gunshot wounds, died in an hospital where he was receiving medical treatment.
The police patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP, Godwin Igoche also recovered one locally made gun, four live cartridges, and four expended cartridges from the suspects.
The Delta State Police Commissioner, CP, Ari Muhammed Ali, in a statement through Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe has confirmed the report.
According to the police image, the Kwale Division of the state police command led by the DPO responded quickly to a distress call about the robbery operation along Jesus Avenue in Umusadege quarters in Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA. The hoodlums, on sighting the police, engaged them in a gun duel, during which, one of the hoodlums sustained bullet injuries while others escaped.
DSP Edafe, however, reported that the suspect died from bullet wounds while still receiving treatment at the hospital where he was rushed.
The police has launched manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
