It was the end of the road for seven robbers who operated with tricycles to snatch phones, laptops and even Point of Sale (POS) machines at they have been arrested by the operatives of the Delta State Police Command.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Bright Edafe, who displayed their photographs and the stolen items on his Twitter handle on Sunday morning, July 17, said the robbers had been attacking their victims while operating tricycles popularly known as Keke.

According to him, they were arrested in Asaba, the state capital, by the decoy team of the Commissioner of Police in the state following complaints by residents of incessant attacks through the use of tricycles.

The arrested robbers and the items said to have been recovered from them as posted by the Delta State Police PRO.

Edafe said following the complaints, the team launched a manhunt for the robbers and eventually succeeded in arresting seven of them operating in three tricycle while over 70 phones, laptops and POS machines were recovered from them.

According to his tweet: “If you are resident in Asaba, you might have heard of complaints of Keke robberies and snatching of phones. I am proud to say that seven suspects have been arrested, their Keke and over 70 suspected stolen phones, laptops and POS machines recovered by the CP’s decoy squad.”

His tweet attracted reactions from some residents who gave details about the theft of their phones.

One of the victims, who gave his name as Alex with the Twitter handle @alexgeneral, wrote: “Nice job. That guy on black polo on the left hand side stole my Redmi Note 8 phone inside a Keke along Summit Road. Nice work Bright Edafe.”

The Police PRO reacted to his tweet and asked the victim to see him at the command headquarters on Monday.
