……..Assures Of Full Implementation Of Approved Minimum Wage

Delta state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, has enjoined Journalist to unite with the masses against a common enemy to build and egalitarian society.

Comrade Oforbruku gave them the charge during the fifth edition of Media Hang-out at the Council Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Asaba, Delta state, Nigeria.

According the Labour gafe the Nigerian people need the strong press in this struggle against oppressive government. He observed and also reminding members of the fourth Estate not to relegate the long standing struggle for emancipation of the Nigerian people, “The Nigerian people are not your enemies, the Working class are not your enemies, the ruling class are your enemies. It is the ruling class that want to keep oppressing and oppressing the masses”.

Comrade Oforbruku in conjunction with his TUC counterpart, Martins Bolum, gave assurance that the government of Rt. Hon Deacon, Sheriff Oborevwori will pay the N70, 000 approved minimum wage to Delta state workers with its accruing arears.

But implemention will not commence untill the enabling circular from the Federal Government is released and Labour is satisfied with consequential adjustment to endure that workers are not unjustly shortchanged

He assured the state workforce of the Oborevwori led administration’s willingness to pay what have been approved and urged to them to be dedicated duty for improved productivity.

Comrade Churchill Oyowe, Chairman NUJ, Delta state, in his opening remarks observed that the gathering is yet another opportunity to unwind and socialize as well as engage in meaningful discussions that impacts our roles as journalists to build the Society we deserve as we are honored to have with two distinguished guests who play pivotal roles in shaping the labor landscape in Delta State.

According to him their presence underscores the importance of the media in bridging the gap between the government and the workforce especially in these crucial times when the implementation of the approved minimum wage is a matter of great concern.

As it were, their insights and experiences will provide a deeper understanding of the ongoing efforts by labour to ensure fair and just remuneration for workers in Delta States, “This is a topic that resonates with us as it directly affects the livelihood of many and the economic stability of our state.
