The Oborevwori administration has reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful and secure Delta transforming to number one investment destination.
The Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads and Public Communication, Mr Charles Aniagwu made the assertion on behalf of the governor in Asaba, Delta state capital, while briefing the press on recent developments sorounding governance and administration of Delta State.
According to Mr Aniagwu, the governor’s commitment to governance remains very, very unshaken, baring all distraction to cause derailment in the course of governance.
The commissioner claimed the the governor has made it clear that even up to the months preceding, the elections, he will continue to embark on projects that will indeed address development gaps in our communities and also makes it possible for our people graduating from higher institutions are gainfully employed.
So we needed to re-emphasize it so that those individuals who think that we are going to lose track of the vision of the governor should have a rethink, particularly some members of the political class who are behind all of these, because it pays for our state to remain peaceful.
One good thing according to the commissioner is that none of them is taking on the governor on the issue of performance because they know they cannot go that route because you will even call them to question.
“You will ask them if they are not aware of the many bridges of possibilities that we are building both in the riverine communities and in our Upland. You ask them how we also in closing the gap of Academic Ignorance by ensuring that our schools, our treasuring institutions remain very, very functional even when a number of schools across the land and breadth of this country once in a while are embarked on strikes, while we have always had some level of consistency in our schools. You will also possibly ask them if they are not seeing our social investment programmes such that many needs of our people are met without being selective.
He said the governor realizes that he’s the governor of the entire State and has continued to pilot the affairs of the entire state not along ethnic lines adding that what these individuals are doing now is to raise some other persons to continue to suggest that the governor is not being fair to the Urhobos where he is from.
The commissioner maintained that the governor has demonstrated fairness across all divides. He has continued to show, love to all whether you are an Isoko man, whether you are an Itsekiri man, whether you are an Ijaw man and of course whether you are Ibo man the governor has said he is governor for all. And you have also seen that in the appointments, he has made, in the projects that he is distributing across the length and breadth of the state.
