Bandits have attacked Yar Nasarawa village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing six people and injuring 10 others.
The attack was carried out simultaneously, with the bandits setting ablaze three houses and four motorcycles while abducting an unknown number of villagers.
According to PUNCH, The attack occurred when the residents had already settled down for the night. The bandits also attacked Ruwangodiya village in the same local government area on Monday night, rustling an unspecified number of domestic animals.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the hoodlums carried out their activities, and residents are now counting their losses.
The spokesman for the state police command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday. He stated that security operatives have been deployed to the community to restore normalcy.
The command’s tactical, operational, and intelligence teams have been deployed to the scene, combing the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.
This attack is coming barely a month after bandits killed two residents and abducted 29 others in an attack on Dan Alhaji and Yandaka villages in the Batsari Local Government Area of the State. The Katsina State government has been battling with banditry and other forms of insecurity in recent times.
The government has been working with security agencies to tackle the menace, but the attacks have continued.
