The renowned human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, asked the Nigerian government to consider the plea of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU) as against funding politicians.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has been on strike for several months with no set date for resumption due to the government’s alleged failure to fulfill a previous agreement. Many Nigerian students have taken to the streets to protest their long stay at home, but it seems their action has yielded no positive result, as it seems the government is presently focusing more on the forthcoming election than on their urgent resumption to school.

There has been much discussion about the expensive lifestyles of many Nigerian politicians, as it appears that the government is financing them unnecessarily.

Deji Adeyanju made it known in his recent Facebook post that the government should endeavour to provide the things being demanded by the Academic Staff Union of Universities rather than provide money for politicians to fund their expensive lifestyles.
