The Executive Chairman Of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, on Wednesday, held a meeting with local heads of security agencies in the area.
The meeting, which had in attendance other stakeholders such as community and youth leaders within the Local Government Area, was to brainstorm on how to effectively tackle the mounting insecurity in the area.
The Chairman, at the occasion, expressed the need for all residents to be part of efforts to sustainably reduce insecurity in the area to the barest minimum, and for the people to regard the protection of lives and property of residents of the area as a collective responsibility.
He harped on the need for all residents to be vigilant and proactive in ensuring sustainable public safety, and also called for collaboration among security agencies in the area in the fight against insecurity and other social vices.
Ehiwarior promised to work closely with, and to support, the security agencies in the discharge of their responsibilities, even as he reminded them that sustainable security was pivotal to the enduring development of any society.
In attendance were representatives of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Security Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Local Vigilance groups and community leaders, amongst other stakeholders.
