Delta State has kept faith with its desire to win as host only wished it were possible to emerge first, second and third positions.

While throwing bangers in what could be his last interaction with journalist at the press centre of Asaba township stadium, the chairman of the publicity subcommittee of the 21st National Sports festival, Mr Charles Aniagwu observed that sports has become an indigene of Delta and so anytime any day she will always have the first position reserved for her.

Looking at the medals table, the gap between the first position is quite yawning with winning more gold, more silver and more bronze medals put together, while more are yet to be officially declared.

Mr Aniagwu again commended members of the fourth estate of the realm for wonderful coverage and reportage of events and other developments.

Notwithstanding few shortcomings if any, the Commissioner commended the governor, Senator, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for all the financial support which enable Delta State sports commission and the organisers of the festival to provide facilities towards successful hosting.

He said that Delta has set a bench mark for the next host and hope that it will surpass Delta and make athletes happier than they come.

On a sad note, he commiserated with the family the late boxer, Chukwuemeka Igboanugo wish him eternal rest in the bosom of the lord.
