The Speaker, Delta State House Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oborovweri, has restated the commitment of the state House of Assembly to peace, security and good governance of the state through its robust legislation and passsge of bills and motions.
Hon Oborevwori made the assertions while briefing the press, Friday, June 10, 2022 to mark its commemoration of the third anniversary as Speaker and gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Within the period under review, the Speaker said, the House received a total of 25 bills comprising 15 executive bills and 20 private member’s bills, out of which 21 were passed. 25 plus one of these bills, Fidelityreprter reports was received in the first session but passed in the third session. Six of the bills are yet awaiting assent while three are still undergoing considerations by the House.
Beside legislative duties, the House also embarked on training and retraining of critical members of its workforce and members of the legislature for efficient service delivery. Political aides were not left out of the training exercise.
The Speaker commended fellow house members for their cooperation and unity of purpose, stressing that their examplary support for the leadership has transformed the House into one big family and the most vibrant state house of assembly in the country.
He also commended the State Governor, Senator, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his support without which the house could not have achieved this feat.
