The Chairman, Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Hon. Godspower Asiuwhu has renewed government warning that Environmental violators would be sanctioned irrespective of their religious or social standing.
Hon Asiuwhu made the assertion in Asaba, Delta state capital during Journalist Hangout, from parly to party, the sixth edition, held at the NUJ Secretariat.
He said there will total crackdown of Hoteliers and indigenous companies who are discharging their waste into drainages against safty standard therby polluting their immediate environment and endengering the health of the citizens.
The Taskforce chairman while expressing concern about environmental safety cautioned street sweepers and individuals who surreptiuosly discharge waste and sand into drainages would if apprehended and prosecuted according to law.
Hon Asiuwhu counselled that to ensure a cleaner and healthy environment for all should be the responsibility of everybody and not just for the Taskforce alone. To this end he called on redidents to register with Private Sector Participants ((PSP) nearest to them for easy evacuation of waste.
Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Comrade Churchill Oyowe, in his remarks described the taskforce chairman as a medas touch a man highly favoured because of the way he has handled previous positions, hence successive administration has continued to patronise him and urged him to continue with the good works.
