A staunch member of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Rotarian. Lucky Ehiwuogwu Monye, has appealed to persons of voting age in Ika Federal Constituency not yet registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC), to take advantage of the ongojng Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The commission is undertaking the CVR to enable mainly those who have attained voting age since the last general elections in 2023 to do so.
Monye, a renowned Philanthropist and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer CEO of Monaco Ventures Nigeria Limited, said in a statement he issued today that the exercise was a golden opportunity for those yet to do so to register for future elections.
He advised those impacted not to miss the opportunity offered by the CVR exercise..
Monye commended INEC for the CVR and urged it to ensure that it took all necessary steps to enhance the integrity of future polls.
He stressed that active participation in the CVR would not only allow those yet to register to become an integral part of the active electorate and hence parties to the social contract between them and their elected representatives in government,but also give a credible impression of the actual demography of voters in a given constituency,
He added that, in some instances, such demographic data form the plank of criteria based on which the government takes action regarding resources allocation.
Monye said the active participation of those affected in Ika Federal Constituency in the CVR would give a more dependable reflection of the actual voting population of the constituency and also give a fair idea of how the constituency fares in relation to others with regard to the active electorate mapping. In the state.
He urged political, traditional and other leaders in the constituency to mobilise across all wards for the effective participation of those yet to register in the CVR.
