The high point of this year, 2023, Obior Development Union ODU, annual General conference, was the award of excellence to very distinguished sons of Obior.
Among the distiguished awardees were, Mr Emeka Chimekwene, Chairman, Chief Executive ( CEO), CHIMEX FOUNDATION and Honourable, Commandant, Julius Ego both of Ogbe-Agidi, Idumu-onicha for their outstanding contribution to the development of Obior community.
The, CEO, CHIMEX FOUNDATION who was, however, unavoidably absent, was represented by Honourable Julius Ego, Commandant, Obior Vigilance group who had his awarded received.
Honorable, Julius Ego who spoke to FIDELITYREPORTER.COM after receiving the plague and certificate of recognition on behalf of himself and CHIMEX FOUNDATION, said the award is very, highly deserving, an impetus to put in more service, meaning that the labour is not in vain afterall.

According to him, doeaking on behalf of CHIMEX, said CHIMEX has instituted an education foundation a scholarship scheme for a number of indigent students in addition to payment/registration fees annually for qualified obior students writing annual prescribed West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), he has also donated number of school chairs to the primary schools in Obior.
The implication is that CHIMEX FOUNDATION, therefore, may have vowed that poverty will not deny any Obior citizen opportunity to be educated at that level, unless not to his knowledge.
Away from that from that, he has taken welfare of widows as priority in the town with unspecified welfare packages
My Julius Ego, another awardee, himself, also spoke of his areas of commitment, where he has distiguished himself to the service of his community from youth.
First, he was the first Councillor of repute that has meritoriously represented Obior in Aniocha North local government Area, where he elevated the community in the hall of fame. From that humble begining, his services has expanded to other recognised areas of importance to the community. He is still holding sway in the political circle as SSA, Political to senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, present governor of Delta state. He has used the position to the benefit of Obior
Again, according to him, for 16 years continuously, he said, has been serving as Community Taxforce Chairman and commandant of Obior community local vigilance group with passion and at great prices, variously, yet unrelenting, not discouraged.
For this dogged effort in collaboration with other patriotic citizens serving with him, Obior is now enjoying relative peace restored to the town. The list was endless, cannot all be capture in one ‘epitaph’. For him, he receives and accepted the recognition for his services with great emotions to sooth the pains of ‘castigations’ seeing that his labour is not in vain.
The former deputy governor, Chief BSC Elue was also among the recipients of the award, while speaking on behalf of the awardees commended the organisers for the novelty.
For him, the event had defied the biblical saying, that a ‘prophet’ is not being recognised by his people, because today it would no longer stand in Obior, againtall odds.
The award will not only spur the recipients to do more but will spur, hitherto, unlookers to strive to have their names engraved and their pictures hung in the hall of fame, adding that the reward of service is to do more.
