In a startling incident earlier today, a commercial shuttle bus collided with a private car at approximately 10 am today at the ever busy Issele-Azagba market which holds on “Nkwo” martket day on the highway.

Eyewitnesses report that the shuttle bus

with registration number GWK 19 AYB which was transporting passengers to Issele-Azagba market at the intersection while trying to make a U- Turn to enter the market when the accident occurred.

Conflicting reports indicate that the private vehicle with registration number: KUJ 286 OL; hit the Shuttle bus from the rear which slowed down attempting to enter the market when the collision happened. The impact caused private car with only the driver to summersault and skidded off the road and consequently fell and turned upside down. The impact also caused significant damage to both vehicles. Emergency services by members of Road Safty commission were quickly dispatched to the scene which took the injured for treatment.

However, preliminary reports suggest that only one person, a female passenger in the shuttle bus had serious injuries. Fortunately, there are no reported fatalities as at the time of teport.

The police and men from the traffic division are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Residents have expressed concern regarding traffic safety at the location of the accident, particularly on a market day which rotates every five days while others are calling for improved signage and traffic measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
