Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State took control of the popular Damaturu-Maiduguri Road on Monday, torching three trucks in the process.
Around 9 a.m., an accident occurred on the highway’s Mainok-Jakana axis.
Insurgents dressed in military uniforms reportedly set up a roadblock near Lawan Mainari village, about 50 kilometers from Maiduguri.

“After the commuters abandoned their cars and fled, they set fire to an unspecified number of vehicles,” a villager said.
Insurgents opened fire on a convoy carrying police officers assigned to the ruling All Progressives Congress’s yet-to-be-identified presidential candidate in May.
According to ISWAP, which claimed responsibility for the attack, seven police officers were killed.
In their attacks, Boko Haram and its offshoot, ISWAP, have been ruthless.
On several occasions, the Nigerian Army has claimed that the insurgents have been largely defeated.
