Ahead of 2023 presidential election, a protest against the presidential aspiration of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has erupted simultaneously, Monday, in Lagos, Adamawa, Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna States, demanding the former vice president to jettison his presidential ambition.

The protesters were former support groups for Atiku’s presidential bid in 2019, who said they were not supporting him this time around rather he should shelve the ambition for the South-East region to emerge as Nigeria’s president come 2023.

In a statement jointly signed by the national coordinator and national secretary, North 4 North Support Group for Atiku, Mohammed Garba, and Abubakar Sanni, respectively and read during the protest in Kaduna, it pointed out that the former VP should have a rethink of his ambition.

Present at the meeting were Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa); Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom); Bala Mohammed (Bauchi); Douye Diri (Bayelsa); Samuel Ortom (Benue); Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta); Godwin Obaseki (Edo); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Oluseyi Makinde (Oyo) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).

Nothern Youths Tell Atiku To Support Southern Presidency

The North 4 North Atiku Support Group at a peaceful protest in Kaduna yesterday rejected the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the 2023 presidential race, stressing that he is too old to contest and should leave the race for a younger candidate.

Atiku had contested presidential election in 2019 against incumbent president Muhammadu Buhari, but lost.

The protesters who stormed Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Way, Kaduna carried placards with inscriptions such as, “Northern youths reject Atiku for 2023 presidency, “; “Atiku is too old to be president, “; “Insecurity: Atiku abandoned us,”; “2023 presidency is the turn of the South” among several others.

Police hunt driver as Rivers truck kills man, injures four

Tragedy struck on Monday when a garbage truck crushed a man and injured four others after a brake failure along the Rumuigbo axis of Ikwerre Road in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the victims were people around the vicinity of the accident.

The incident, which eyewitnesses said occurred around 1am on Monday, reportedly shattered the serenity of the community.
