The Delta State capital, Asaba in the nearest future shall boast of a six lane dual carriage road.
The proposed mega road shall run from the Asaba water front to Government House to Anwai River.
The State Commissioner of Information Mr Charles Aniagwu disclosed this today while speaking to reporters as part of post exco briefing in Asaba.
He also said government has approved the development of Asaba water front.
Said Aniagwu :’Before now, we have seen the need to develop the water front here in Asaba. We also need to pay compensation to those who own lands by this water front, which is from this axis (Government House) to Anwai River.
We are also going to construct a six lane dual carriage road for us to be able to drive straight to the water front. All these were approved at today’s Exco.’
He stated that the state executive council approved the second phase of the Umunede/Ogwashi Uku Road and the construction of the perimeter road of the Asaba International Airport, Asaba.
On the not too steady electricity supply to government hospitals, Aniagwu said government has decided to install solar lights in the hospitals.
He maintained that the solar lights when installed would enable the hospitals have constant supply of energy, adding that the cost of running diesel generator was highly expensive.
He explained further :’We know that our facilities especially the hospitals are having challenges of inadequate power supply and the cost of running diesel generators have also skyrocketed.
Consequent upon this development, we have decided to embrace renewable sources, this time around, the solar energy, to ensure we have power in our hospitals.’
In order to get transparent accounting records, government has given approval for the engagement of. Consultants to help the state reconcile its FAAC accounts.
