Delta state Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu and Spokesperson, Atiku/ Okowa campaign Council has clarified media report alleging that Delta state government blatantly refused to approve choice venue for Peter Obi’s campaign in Asaba.

While briefing the press early hours of today, said, contrary to social media campaign on the matter, the truth was that, first, Labour Party (LP) and it’s members in Delta State failed to follow due process in making it’s application, though belatedly. She did not formerly apply for any venue.

Second was they made oral application. However, after and oral application via a phone call by one Mr Kelly, he said, the state government quickly reached out to officials of Oshimili south local government and secured the venue for them and even waived the amount payable for the venue to demonstrate PDP’s democratic credentials.

But rather than express gratitude for government open door policy to grant them access to available space to carry out their campaign, professor Utomi had resorted to campaign of calumny and lying to the good people of Delta State.

Mr Aniagwu said, the People’s Democratic Party has become indeginous to Delta State and it’s already entrenched and difficult to be removed, adding government is unmoved by Prof Utomi’s lies, “we only appeal to prof. Utomi and the likes of Utomi not to derail this dispensation by his lies to the people.

He explained that the Asaba township stadium has been under reconstruction since after the national sports festival and not available for use for now.

“We needed to come to the court of public opinion to make this clarification to speak to the people that they are trying to dceive.”, the commissioner explained.
