The Agbor residence of the former General Manager of the Delta Printing and Publishing company (DPPC) publishers of The Pointer Newspaper, Mr Monday Uwagwu, has been burgled by suspected thieves.
The burgled residence is located at Abude Lane in Agbor Obi, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was not immediately clear what time of Wednesday that the burglary took place as the last tenant was ejected recently for unpaid rent, and a new one is yet to move in.
The incident is one of the many such burglaries in that part of Agbor of recent.
The burglars disentangled the protector, destroyed the side balcony and cut open the ceiling to gain access, and, thereafter, ransacked the entire building and carted away valuables that are still being computed at press time.
Mr Uwagwu, during a visit to assess the damage to the property on Thursday, expressed displeasure over the robbery incident.
He frowned at the rising incidence of crime in the area and urged youths to end their non- challant attitude towards effective education and craftsmanship which, he said, could enable them to have sustainable honest livelihoods.
He also appreciated God as the thieves could not gain access to his vital documents, including high value books.
Residents of the area who came to sympathize with the former General Manager described the action of the thieves as unfair, adding such cases were on the rise in the city.
They noted that despite the hard economic situation of the country, no one should inflict pain on their fellow citizens.
